Sapele Quarter Cut Lumber
Sapele is an African tree that so closely resembles mahogany, that it is often referred to Sapele mahogany, but is not a true mahogany. Sapele has a dark red/ brown colour, and is typically a Face & Better grade (5.5” wide and wider, minimal knots, and minimal sapwood on the face). It usually has very few knots and the fine wavy grain of Quarter Cut has the appeareance of ribbons.
