Oak, Red: Quarter Cut

Description: Heartwood has a pink or reddish tinge and shows a “flake” figure on the quartered surface.  This is the result of cutting through the board parallel to the medullary rays. The flake figure in red oak is not as pronounced as in white oak.

Machinability: Machines fairly well. Red oak must be pre-drilled before screwing. Stains and polishes well.

Density: Specific gravity of .77

Thickness: 4/4, 5/4, 6/4, 8/4

Grades: Sel. & Better
